Hi, I’m Karina Nielsen, Founder and Trainer of Balance Together Dog Training
My passion for dogs started at a young age. I grew up with Dobermans, Retrievers, and a Pomeranian. I was the kid who could always be found by the dogs. Although I have always been passionate about animals, especially dogs, it was not until I met my boyfriend and his family’s Landseer Newfoundland about 7 years ago that I started learning about dog training more in depth.
Since then, I have worked with hundreds of dogs. In addition to hands on experience, I have continued my education through in person shadow programs and workshops, online workshops, and dog training Facebook communities for professionals. There is always something new to learn; whether that is about dog biomechanics, training exercises, games (like tug & fetch), or something else.
Speaking of dog nutrition, I am very passionate about how a dog’s diet affects them. I have done some continued education in this area, and if I see something, I say something. I have worked with multiple dogs, who I have recommended tests being ran, or simply switching to a different protein source because I could tell their dog’s body was inflamed. These dogs had severe allergies, and are now living much healthier lives with less inflammation in their body. How we feel affects our behavior, same with our dogs.
Through these experiences, I have created a training style I am proud of. My training style is the type of training I wish I had encountered when working with one of my dogs. One of my main goals is to help you to build a more fulfilling relationship with your dog, with less conflict. Successful relationships have respect on both ends, clear communication, and healthy boundaries, all of which are covered in my training programs. I have learned how to use multiple tools in an artful way so I can serve a variety of dogs and humans. I put a lot of time and energy into the training process with each dog. My mission is for you and your dog to be happy, confident, and safe in all you do together.
